A fast response by Campbell River firefighters prevented an early-morning blaze on Tuesday from spreading to any nearby homes on Colwyn Street. Around 5 am on August 6, the fire department was called to a structure fire in the 600 block of Colwyn. When they arrived, they found a 25-foot RV trailer, and 20-foot boat and a pickup truck fully involved in flames. The fire was spreading to a nearby shed. Firefighters focused on keeping the fire from spreading to any nearby homes or out-buildings while a second truck and more firefighters were called in to help. The firefighters union says thanks to the quick response by the on-duty crew, and close proximity to the fire hall, they were able to keep the fire from damaging any homes.
