Memorial bench installed in front of hospital site in Bracebridge

A bench in honour of the late Beryl Norma Chandler has been placed in front of the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge. [caption id="attachment_137648" align="alignleft" width="300"] Photo supplied by: South Muskoka Hospital Foundation[/caption] The 97-year-old passed away in 2023 and lived most of her life in Muskoka. Leah Walker, executive director of the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation (SMHF), says Chandler left a "significant contribution" to SMHF in her will. She explains how friends describe Chandler as someone who enjoyed sitting outside and watching people go about their day. "A memorial bench seemed fitting to honour her and the contribution she made to the hospital in her legacy," continues Walker. The bench is located at the visitor entrance way of the hospital. Walker says SMHF is offering three more benches to donors looking to commemorate a loved one.
